Fantasy Super Rugby Week 8: Don’t Touch, Pause, Engage.

As ever, keep your eyes on the casualty ward and on the #casualtyward hashtag on twitter for the lastest.

not a disaster if you can’t fill your bench. At a cost of 20 points per transfer out, the dude on your bench will need to score 40 points …. and how often does that happen. So don’t use transfers for the sake of using transfers, if you’ve got a good 15 out, and a sketchy bench, that’s ok. Focus on that starting 15, captain, and making sure you’re ok for the net couple of weeks.

Team on a bye: The Chiefs

The cheapest option in terms of getting more players in and keeping the cost of bring them in seems to be to sell an expensive player or 2 and then buy a few cheap ones as you are only docked for the players you sell. In other words the first player you sell is free and the 2 players you sell will cost you -20 points. The only thing to be weary of by doing this if you want to bring that expensive player back into your side down the line it might cost you a lot of points to do so.

Buy number 1: Sevu Reece or Will Jordan from the Crusaders, both electric on attack and should be worth a few good points this weekend against the struggling Brumbies.

Buy number 2: Kerron van Vuuren or Corniel Els if you need a cheap hooker thanks to 4 and 3 week ban of Brits and Akker.

Buy number 3: Hanro Liebenberg starts at lock this week and can start in your team as a flanker or 8th man, earning him more points per run.

This week there are tons of players being rested too which has really hurt my team in rugby mag. Check out the starting line-ups

Prop Kitsoff and Tupou benched is not helping anyone. Harry Johnson-Holmes is doing great this year but beware he is on a bye next week. The Shark’s Beast and Coenie are safer option in my opinion and have a good run of fixtures ahead of them.

Hookers: As I mentioned above Akker and Britz have caused problems for a lot of us. I have Akker and will look to replace him this week likely. The Rebels hooker looks like a pretty good option but I might opt for a cheaper short term one if I can keep Akker at the same time. My starting Hooker is Marx. If you don’t have Marx and can afford him he’s the one to go for.

Locks, Flank & Number 8: Brodie Retallick being on a bye and Pari-Pari being brought back in and out of The Highlanders like a yo-yo week in week out might mean you need to bring in a new lock, Hanro Liebenberg, Scott Barrett and Matt Phillips are my 2 picks this week. Matt Phillips is only able to feature as a lock in your team though so I’d choose one of the other 2 as they both can start at flank. Hanro can even start at an 8th man.

Scrumhalf: Will Genia and TJ are the most obvious options here. A cheaper option that has come out of nowhere and is now the 4th highest point scoring scrumhalf is Tate Dermott.

Flyhalf: Ideally Richie Mo-unga to start but again the price. Otere Black and Quade Cooper if you can get yourself to include him in your team;) Only kidding he’s looking good this year, but was so bad before his break, I just wonder how long he can keep this current form going.

Center, Wing and Full back: Sevu Reece & Will Jordan because they are electric, make loads of meters, score tries and in my opinion could be the next big thing .
