Fantasy Super Rugby Week 14: Don’t Touch, Pause, Engage.

Well, last week was a weird one, kind of like upside week. A whole host of fantasy studs laying eggs, but there was points a plenty to be had.

Teams on a BYE: Rebels.

Teams with Tough Match-ups: Blues, Brumbies, Reds.

Teams with Easy Match-ups: Lions, Canes, Stormers (+Crusaders & Sunwolves)

Injury Watch: check out the Fantasy XV Draft casualty ward.

So first up, Mafi’s on a bye, then I believe (but please someone correct me) that next week and the week after all the Japan players will miss Super Rugby. So, you need a replacement Backrow. Clearly if you can afford him, Du Preez is the best player in super rugby right now, but will cost a little $ to trade up. The sharks also have another bye. Kwagga also has a great match-up this week, the the remaining Lions games are all attractive. However, the Lions have 2 byes left. I’m looking at players with no more byes. Ardie Savea seems back in form and would be my preference. I’m not sure what’s going on with the Brumbies back row, so I’d avoid them, but otherwise Luke Whitelock, Timu should be solid until the end of the season. I really like the upside on Sowakula, but I’d prefer to play him from the bench which will be tough this week.

Other than that, there’s some big names missing with McKenzie, Brodie, Laumape rested.

I love the Waratahs last 4 games, and whilst the next two will be tougher, Folau could pay off big if you’re trading out DMck. Bofelli at fullback is should be in the points, but the Jags only play two home games and are then on a bye so be cautious. If you don’t already have a stack of Hurricanes then Milner-Skudder could be the form player coming into the end of the season. Naholo’s got a nice couple of games, so plenty of options this week.

I’d keep laumape and play a value sub – Rohan JvR is starting and has some great upside at a cheap price. Dyanti’s playing centre as well which could be tasty this week. Tamanivalu’s finally getting some ball, Am could excel if the sharks put some points on an under strength chiefs team.

With Kitshoff injured you’ll likely need a prop sub. Personally I go cheap and bank some of the upside, someone like A Alaalatoa should see out the season and averages about 20. I’d similarly pick up Michael, but he’s got one bye left.

Mo’unga as the Crusaders are playing the Blues, he should make a lot of points and be eager to put in a big performance as the all black selectors will be watching closely.

At lock Pieter-Steph du Toit against the sunwolves is a great match-up especially considering they are missing some key players this week.

Milner-Skudder starting on the wing this week against the reds might be huge if he manages to get his hands on the ball…

I’m not too precious about anyone this week. It’s only the Rebels on a bye, and their best player is then off for two weeks.

Obviously hold on to DMcK and Brodie if you can as the Chiefs run in doesn’t have anymore byes.

Mafi if you can as the Rebels are on a bye but he might be off next week too with Japan duty.

I’ve been pushing a selling Blues for a couple of weeks. Another tough match-up then a bye. Ditch everyone but the Ioanes, and even those I’d play from the bench if you’ve got the options.

Mafi, Saumaki, basically any Japanese player not playing this week.

Kitshoff – injured this week and Stormers have two byes. Time to trade in one of the players of the season.

Mataele as he’s made loads of cash and will surely go down in value if he starts from the bench.

Lappies if you had him bec he wont play again this season for the Sunwolves as he is contracted to another Japanese team and has now played the amount of games he was allowed.
