Fantasy Super Rugby Week 11: Don’t Touch, Pause, Engage.

First up, apologies there was no post last week. I was in Vegas on work all week, and time different + all day conferences + free booze and gambling does not make it easy to get posts out, so Bossman was going solo.

But WE’RE BACK this week with our weekly rambling about lineup and transfer ideas.

Teams on a BYE: Chiefs, Sharks, Waratahs

Teams with Tough Match-ups: Reds, Brumbies, Sunwolves

Teams with Easy Match-ups: HURRICANES, Jags, Lions, Rebels, Blues

Injury Watch: check out the Fantasy XV Draft casualty ward.

Clearly Hurricanes, in the most lop-sided match-up in a while. Hopefully you held them last week, and if like me you transferred out Aso but left Laumape then you probably did you fair swear of swearing when the teams were announced.
Great time to get Beauden in. Just be careful of who’s on the bench. Milner Skudder will get some time, you would think for Savea, but really you can make a case for 10-15 in the Hurricanes backs, as well as Ricciteli. You would think the centres are safe, given there’s only 9,10 and Milner-Skudder on the bench, but they could always shift Jordie to centre and lose Proctor or Aso. It’s a coin flip across the backs to be honest. Jordie is probably the safest pick …. (might regret that). In order of preference – Lam, Beauden, Jordie, Savea, Aso, Proctor.

Outside of that the other 4 “easier” match-ups all have some caution. Lions have been great on tour so far but I’ve consistently called their players wrong all season, so I’m steering clear of them.

If Leger starts for the Blues again, he could be a nice cheap option at $117k, and played well last week. Gatland also falls into the cheaper bucket if you’re desperate. TJ had a great game, but it didn’t really translate into points. Personally I wouldn’t go anywhere near anyone but Reiko and Akira.

Jags are equally unreliable, which only leaves the Rebels. Bring in Ruru at SH if you need cover, but again I don’t like anyone else apart from Mafi.

So, in summary, the only match-up I’m playing this week is the Hurricanes. If you need other help at OBK with McKenzie and Alaimalo missing, lock cover with no brodie, or FH or backrow cover because of now Foley and Hooper then I’d go (excluding Hurricanes):

OBK: Saumaki, SP Marais (if he starts)

LOCK: Pieter-Steph as a premium replacement for Brodie, but realistically Snyman is the better bye week option at $184k

FH: I’m not keen on many outside of Beauden this week, but Willemse is grea if you can afford him and don’t already have him, otherwise you could gamble on Gatland as per above, or Coetzee.

BACKROW: Frizzell if you just want the money and have plenty of depth, or if you’re feeling brave and he starts, I still have a hard on for Ardie Savea. Surely one of these days he’s going to explode. I don’t like many of the other options apart from the top guys – Akira, Mafi, Naisarani/Pocock.

As many Hurricanes as you, as many transfers I could have i would transfer Hurricanes… Ben Lam, Jordie Barrett, Boden(although he may come odd early), Ricciteli and potentially J. Savea are the pick of the lot for me. Their bench looks strong with the return of Milner-Skudder who will disrupted the centers or OBKS, so the only problem you have is who will be subbed and miss out on the last 20 minute potential try fest against the Sunwolves.

I agree with Feast, there are no high scoring scrumhalves, the hurricanes youngster will propably score the most points just bec it’s against the sunwolves… I would have suggested bringing in Genia.

Have Jags after their bye. Hold on if at all possible.

The Tahs also come back against the Blues, but I’ve long since lost faith in them, so the only person I’d hold would be Naiyaravoro.

Chiefs all the way.

The Du Preez brothers especially Jean Luc-DuPreez if you are able to as he’s on fire!

Foley, on a bye, has been horrible for a couple of games, and not the same player this year. I would also trade our Hooper – I did a while ago – as he’s rarely popping up in the centres this season.

Sharks have been great value again this season. Not at the very top by position, but there or there abouts. However, they come back after the bye against the Highlanders, then have a tough match-up with the Bulls then Chiefs. I’d trade them out at this bye,

Anyone from the Reds except Kerevi the Fantasy Point making Machine.
